School Council Report

Here are the highlights from the September School Council meeting, held Monday 5 September.

FPS School Review

Council received a progress report on the FPS School Review. The Review process is a valuable opportunity to evaluate the school’s performance. Staff, students, and parents have an opportunity to reflect on the school’s achievements, to identify the challenges in meeting our goals, and to set goals and targets for the next four years.

Staff have produced and analysed a significant amount of data for the School Review Panel to consider. Students, represented by the School Community Leaders and Student Voice team, have had the opportunity to contribute their reflections about their school as part of the review process. The Panel has considered responses to the 2021 Parent Survey, and parents representatives from School Council and the Class Liaisons have provided feedback.

School Council acknowledges the contribution of all staff, students, and parents contributing to the work involved in participating the School Review – and particularly recognises the significant contribution made by Paul Wallace, Sarah Abbott and Allison O’Connell, School Council President.

Parents, carers and guardians are encouraged to complete the 2022 Parent Opinion Survey via Compass by 16 September.

Art4All Planning

Planning for Art4All is well and truly underway.

The Art4All Committee would love to hear from parents interested in coordinating the food, especially for the Family Fun Day on Sunday 13 November.

Please contact Michelle Schwensen if you are interested.

Parking on Wingrove Street

School Council approved changes to the parking arrangement on Wingrove Street, following the relocation of the school crossing. Darebin City Council has since advised that some restrictions next to the old school crossing will be removed, and an additional six or seven parking spots will become available on Wingrove Street.

School Policies

School Council noted two policies as recommended by the Policy Committee:

  • The Camps Policy and the Excursions Policy have been merged and minor updates have been made – including clarifying that food is not permitted on school buses. The new policy will be available on the website shortly.
  • The Anaphylaxis Policy has been updated to reflect the role of the nurse in consulting with families about Anaphylaxis Plans. The updated policy will be available on the website shortly.

Curriculum Days for 2023

School Council approved the following Curriculum Days for 2023:

  • Friday 27 January
