Monash Waverley Division Athletics

We began Term 4 with a blast, taking 17 students from Years 3 to 6 to the Monash Waverley Division Track and Field event at the Bill Sewart Athletics Track in Burwood East on Wednesday 5 October. Then watching two students progress to the EMR at Doncaster.

This year we have been fortunate to have John Colley sharing his time and expertise with many Essex Heights students. John led sessions for the relay teams, preparing them to work as a team. We benefit from our parent volunteers at Essex Heights, thank you to all the parent’s who support our P.E. program.

Student Reflections

Division is pretty hard to get to but if you can, it’s a truly fun experience and you make new friends. You get to compete against the top people from other schools. Even if you don’t win or get a ribbon, be glad that you made it this far. If you have a relative that is going to Division, I truly think you should go for the experience.   Xavier K

At Division I competed for triple jump and received a 2nd place ribbon to go into Regional triple jump. As I walked down the path I felt extremely nervous but excited at the same time. I saw the other competitors and they were very tall. I spoke to a few of them and they were jumping around the same length, so I felt more prepared. We got 3 jumps and my best was 7.49. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it to State but I had a great time and was very proud of myself. It was a great experience and I loved going to the different competitions.  Heidi H
