Year 12 Reports on Compass

Year 12 Unit 3 VCE and VCAL reports were put on Compass on Friday 26 July.  These reports provide a valuable source of information on each student’s progress and achievement for the first semester of this year.  They include a range of assessments for Unit 3 subjects and the results for the midyear examinations for those in VCE subjects.  Reports provide parents with a wonderful opportunity to discuss progress in individual subjects with their son or daughter.  Where appropriate, students should discuss developing revision strategies, creating summaries and engaging more deeply with the content with their teachers.  We wish all our Year 12 students well in this final semester of their Secondary School journey.

Term 3 Curriculum Day

On the first day of Term 3, Monday 15 July all teaching staff took part in a whole school curriculum day.  The first part of the day was a presentation by guest speaker Glen Pearsall focusing on cooperative and engaged classrooms.  This session provided staff with strategies to ensure positive classroom dynamics.  Glen followed this with a session on formative assessment and simple ways of providing feedback to students regularly during lessons as a means to assist students stay on task and achieve the best possible outcomes.  These sessions were very engaging with a great level of positive interaction by the staff.  Congratulations to our Professional Development team for their organisation of this well received presentation.

The final part of the day involved staff working in their Key Learning Areas (KLAs) to embed the Victorian Curriculum Capabilities within our curriculum and assessments so that teachers will be able to provide progression points against each of the four capabilities - Critical and Creative Thinking, Ethical Capability, Intercultural Capability and Personal and Social Capability. We thank our Curriculum Team for the preparation that went in to running these well-planned and valuable KLA sessions. The progression points for the Capabilities will appear on the end of year reports for Years 7-10.
