Assisting your child with Assessment work

In Academic Pastoral this term, we have been supporting students with their Assessment work. We are focusing on exam interpretation and the deconstruction of assignment questions.

For students to do this, they must understand the meaning of the directive key words. For example Identify, describe, explain, evaluate etc. If you would like to assist your child with their assessment work at home, you can familiarise yourself with the definitions by viewing the following link.  https://educationstandards.nsw.edu.au/wps/portal/nesa/11-12/hsc/exam-advice-resources/glossary-keywords

We are really impressed to see the amount of students using their diary, especially in regards to homework completion and time management. Thank you to all parents who are viewing and signing the diaries, as this helps us support our students to be the best learners they can be.

Uniform Standards

As a school community, we have been thrilled with the uptake of the new options available for student clothing. These are available now at the uniform shop. If you are having difficulty financing the purchase of uniform items for your child, please contact Maree Lovett at the school office.

All students and parents are to be reminded that the wearing of non-school clothing is not accepted at St Philomena's. From Monday 10/6/19, any student wearing non-school clothing will be asked to remove the item, and it will be confiscated until the end of the day.

If your child cannot wear the required uniform for any reason, the school must be notified by way of a phone call, email, or signed note.
