The Big Write is coming!!

Throughout this year, we have been implementing further strategies to support and improve writing across our school through the integration of  ‘Big Write and VCOP’. This approach aims to specifically support students in increasing their skills in uplevelling the writing elements of:

Vocabulary

Connectives

Openers

Punctuation

An element of the ‘Big Write and VCOP’ approach, is for students to celebrate their increasing confidence and competence through specially dedicated writing opportunities known as ‘Big Write’. We have been working all year towards our first ‘Big Write’, which will become a fortnightly occurrence. Students will participate in this for the first time in Week 9 of this term.

Part of the 'Big Write' approach is the implementation of 'Talk Homework'. This is an opportunity for parents to discuss the stimulus for the writing task with their child, prior the writing session.

The attached letter provides further information for parents regarding the aim and process of 'Talk Homework'. This letter will also be emailed to all K-6 parents.

MiniLit Success

Over the past few weeks, several students from Year 1 have completed the MiniLit program.

Congratulations to Angus Makim, Alexander See, Bruce Antees, Remi Hollands and Amelia Rootes. Well done also to Madison Grantham, Hugh Woods, Isaac Barton and Maggie Ball.

These students have been presented with a certificate for all of their hard work and to celebrate how much they have learnt. On behalf of the Year 1 teachers and the MiniLit tutors,  Mr Bourke and Miss Holmes we would like to say how proud we are of all of these fantastic students for their continued effort.
