Principal's Message

Mr Forrest

I'm Glad to be Back

After six weeks, of 'prison' like conditions at home detention, I'm back and loving being at work at Wedderburn College.  Thanks to Mr Lockhart and the team for doing a great job steering the ship while I was away.   I'm not back to full fitness as yet, however, I do hope to be off crutches sometime over the school holidays.    Thanks to Mrs Postle for organising the golf cart so I could participate on sports day.

One Each For Jacka and Ansett

It was great to finally hold the annual House Athletic Sports on Tuesday.

It was a Primary win to Jacka with back to back titles and a Secondary win for Ansett.  As mentioned by Neve during the speeches it would appear that we have a drawn House series for the year so far.  I therefore challenge Ansett for a winner take all, Yellow VS Blue event, in Term 4 to see who is the best house in 2022.

A huge thanks to all staff members for set up, preparations, catering and running the day. A truly great team effort.  Well done to all competing students who tried their best in every event and earnt points for their house along the way.    A massive thanks to all parents and friends who also attended the day to enjoy the competition and the sunshine.  A great way to finish the term.

Building Update

We have progressed our building project to stage two. We are currently in discussions with DET about what buildings the school can retain or may be demolished.   At the same time we are also looking at what facilities can be upgraded such as the majority of learning spaces in the far wing including ART, Food Technology and general classrooms. An Architect/Project manager has been appointed and we are meeting most weeks to discuss our project.   We will keep you updated of our progress.

COVID Update

Please note the following information in relation to changed COVID Safe practices and rapid antigen test (RAT) deliveries.

COVID-19 isolation requirements have changed.

Any student or staff member who tests positive to COVID-19 must now isolate for a minimum of 5 days instead of 7. If they are asymptomatic, they may return to school on day 6. If they are symptomatic, they must remain in isolation until day 7. If they have symptoms after 7 days, they are strongly advised to stay home until their symptoms have resolved.

As an additional risk mitigation, the Department of Health strongly recommends that those leaving isolation wear a face mask when away from home, both indoors and outdoors, and when they cannot physically distance. Those leaving isolation on day 6 should wear a mask for 5 days but particularly the first 2 days. Those leaving isolation on day 7 should wear a mask for 4 days but particularly the first 2 days.

Those leaving isolation should consider taking a rapid antigen test before attending school.

Rapid antigen tests (RATs) will continue to be provided over 3 fortnightly deliveries to schools in Term 4. We will continue to supply families while we are receiving the tests.

Last Day

A reminder it is Footy Colours Day on Friday 16 September. Please note the early finish at 2.30 pm and School resumes on Monday 3rd of October.  Have a restful, safe and relaxing school holiday break everybody.
