Gymnastics Star Hannah:

My gymnastics competition was at Waitakere Gymnastics where I train. On Sunday morning, teammate Yokiko and I warmed up starting at 9:00 am for about 30 minutes.

We started our first apparatus - the Bars - at 9:30 am. I presented my bar routine after two practices and earned 13.400.

I completed my second and most favourite apparatus - the Vault - with confidence and I also earned the highest score 13.666, equal to my teammate Yokiko. I am so happy that we both came first place in the vault.

In the next apparatus - Floor - I really appreciate watching the other team's amazing performances. However, when it was my turn, I did really well again and I also came first with a score of 13.350.

For the last apparatus - Beam - I could feel my palms sweating because I even fell down twice while practising. I started to worry that I could not do my full turn on the beam. However, in my turn, I tried to calm down and say to myself, 'Hannah, you can do a full turn on the Beam', then I started my beam routine performance with a smile. It worked and I gained a score of 13.266 with my successful full turn.

After the competition, I felt great about what I had achieved this year. I passed my STEP 4 early this year despite the COVID-19 lockdown. I caught up on my STEP 5 training this year and I learned from my mistakes in the Whangarei Club Competition.

I won the all gold Medals in the Waitakere Club Competition. I will challenge myself at the National Level Competition next year.

😁thanks

Hannah
