What a term we are having in Technology!! Check out all the cool things we have been learning...

Prep: 

Our Preps have been undertaking some Food Technology learning this term, as well as tying in their classroom Integrated unit of Sustainability. We have explored our two new worm farms, where the students have investigated what we can feed them and how the worms can help our school veggie garden. We have also been cooking and learning about how to be safe and hygienic in the kitchen.

Grade 1s + 2s: 

Our students have been making connections to coding, as well as Design Technology this term! We began our term by coding stories using Scratch Jr. We have recently been working alongside the classroom teachers to integrate learning. The students have followed The Engineering Design Process to design and create a shadow puppet for their classroom stories that they have written in English. It's been so much fun!

Grade 3s + 4s: 

This term we have made many connections to the students classroom Integrated topic of Science. We have designed and coded objects to save an 'egg' from breaking. We discussed forces and impact when the 'egg' drops. The students replicated an egg using a micro:bit device that they coded. We are now using Ozobot robots to learning about rotations and how the earth revolves around the sun! The students are using 'line' coding to draw how they think this process occurs in the solar system!

Grade 5s + 6s: 

This term our students have been using a new platform; CoSpaces. CoSpaces is a creative platform that allows for design as well as coding. The students have predominantly focused on creating algorithms and challenging themselves to use new blocks that they might find tricky. They have learned more about if-then, if-then-else and variable blocks. We look forward to seeing their Science projects that they are showcasing, using CoSpaces.
