Principal Report

Oatlands from My Point of View

Matthew Kenny – Assistant Principal

Many of my previous newsletter reports over the past few years have been about the many interesting and exciting things happening here at Oatlands from my vantage point within the school. This report is very different. Something came across my desk last week and it was a piece of writing from one of our Grade 4 students, Ava.

Ava wrote a persuasive piece, drawing on what it is like to be a student at Oatlands Primary School from her perspective, providing an insight for future students and their families thinking about coming to our great school.

I thought it was worth sharing in this forum. This is Ava’s writing piece.

Hi, I am Ava and I go to Oatlands Primary School and it is great! There are so many great teachers, my teacher is Mrs McKee and she is awesome! The teachers here are so kind and caring, they will always respect you. We have a cooking room (MY FAV), it is my fav because we make lots of great things and the teachers make sure if you have any allergies! We also have a music room. I love music, I think it is fun because of the teacher, the teacher is a bit funny. There are over 1,000 kids in Oatlands and we are all special in our own way, you can make so many great friends! You can join at any grade. The school has an oval and it is really big! Oatlands has great kids at the school and every kid will be treated special by the students and the teachers. Your kid can learn so much at Oatlands. We will treat your kid with respect and kindness. So come on and join Oatlands Primary School.

Personally, I didn’t require persuading, but if I was a member of Ava’s target audience, I would definitely be heading down Kurrajong Rd for a look and to grab an enrolment form.

Well done Ava!
