CAREERS

What's happening in Careers!

August has been a busy time for the Careers Department with the opening of VTAC Applications for Year 12 students and Open Days at tertiary providers across the state.

Current Year 12 students are reminded that they can receive assistance in creating their VTAC account, Special Entry Access Scheme or SEAS applications and scholarship applications.

VTAC have provided recording of information sessions for students and parents on their website and also a PowerPoint that provides details about the process.

VTAC Course Selection Application Deadline – Thursday 29 September

Ensure your VTAC Course Selection is completed by this date.  If you do not have your application in by this date, you will not be in the position to be offered a position at a tertiary institution in 2023.

The deadline is during the school holidays, so if you need any assistance before the end of term, please make an appointment with the Careers Team.

SEAS and VTAC Scholarships applications CLOSE - 5pm, Friday 7 October

The applications and any supporting evidence must be submitted by this date. The website will experience heavy traffic on the day, so it is important that your applications are finalised in advance of the deadline to avoid the stress of a last minute submission.

There will be no extensions or opportunity to submit either application or any supporting evidence after the October 7 deadline.

An online guide for application for VTAC can be found here:

Year 11 students continue to have their careers appointments, where they can discuss their future pathways. If you have not had an appointment yet, rest assured one of the careers practitioners will meet with you. Keep an eye out on your Compass schedule.

The Careers Team are in the process of completing the VET applications for 2023. Thanks to those students who completed their paperwork in a timely manner, we will inform you of your success shortly.

Year 8 students conducted a session with Ms Nemat, introducing them to Career Action Plans. A Career Action Plan is a planning document managed by students, it allows them to set goals and identify actions that they can undertake to achieve their goals.  A Career Action Plan uses decision-making skills for future  education and career pathway planning.

There continues to be a range of options available for interested students and parents in terms of seminars/events/information sessions for students. Some of these include:

  • Outer East Apprenticeship and Traineeship Expo
  • Round three of Career Pathways Information Sessions for parents
  • Aspergers Victoria sessions for students and parents
  • Marine Industry Immersion Day

Students are encouraged to contact the Careers Team if they would like to undertake work experience or if they have any questions about their future pathways.
