Helping our children to stay safe online: Fortnite

The Carly Ryan foundation https://www.carlyryanfoundation.com/ is an amazing South Australian based organisation which provides online safety, cyberbullying and proactive strategies to help our young people navigate the online space.

Attached is a fact sheet about Fortnite

Some key takeaways:

  • The age rating in the App store is 15+
  • Fortnite is a video game that allows users to build structures, hunt for weapons and equipment.
  • Some of the challenges is that Fortnite allows users to spend real money on items in the game.
  • The game’s online chat feature can be problematic for younger users.
  • Solo mode is recommended for younger users.
  • Information about how to delete, block and report inappropriate behaviour is outlined on the attachment.

Ongoing monitoring and questioning ensures your children are using apps like Fortnite safely and only communicating with known people.

Father’s Day Stall

A HUGE thank you to Jess Deer, our wonderful admin team and volunteers for the organisation of the Father’s Day Stall last Thursday morning. This was a special opportunity for children to purchase from an array of beautiful gifts for their dads and special males in their life.

Important traffic reminders

Just a reminder about the following traffic reminders to ensure our St Paul Community and surrounding neighbours keep safe:

  • When dropping your children through kiss and drop, please drive past the crossing towards Deakin ave and allow your children to exit.
  • Please don’t stop on Audrey ave and allow your children to exit the car. This stops the flow of traffic and is very dangerous.
  • Please don’t use church car parks or the staff car park for drop off or pick up.
  • Our visitor carpark gets very full for allied health specialists and parents visiting the office so please use alternate parking if you need to work or visit the city.
  • When waiting on Audrey ave for kiss and drop, please don’t park across driveways

Thank you for following these important safety measures to keep the St Paul Lutheran School Community safe.
