The focus on Performing Arts for children in Year 1-6 in Term 3 each year has many benefits. There is an emerging research base for the benefits of performance arts in schools that points out that participating in the arts can influence academic and non-academic success. Positive effects can include increased achievement in reading, language and maths, extended higher order thinking skills and a greater sense of connection and belonging.
Beyond just the obvious development of creativity, participation can increase confidence and motivation. Collaboration, critical thinking, communication, and empathy also see increased development through involvement in the arts.
We are incredibly proud of our teachers for the development and execution of high standard, concert and Wakakirri program. All of these teachers go above and beyond the call of duty, putting in an immense amount of work to ensure children receive the maximum benefits of the full performance experience. Their work cannot be understated.
We cannot wait to share the Year 1-4 concert ‘In Tune’ in Week 10 this term. The music will certainly have feet tapping and provide plenty of flashback material.
