Junior School

Prep - Year 2

On Friday the 26 August the junior school had a fantastic time visiting the Melbourne Zoo.

Despite the weather being a little bleak, the students had a fabulous time viewing their favourite animals and attending a Wild Explorers session run by the zoo staff.

This term the Year 1 and 2s have been learning about mini-beasts and the Prep students have been learning about living things and their requirements for survival.  Visiting the zoo allowed the students to be exposed to many different animal habitats and to think about what animals need in a habitat to ensure they remain happy and healthy.

During the Wild Explorer session,  a zoo keeper talked to the students about what makes animals special and how they can care for animals and their homes.

The Butterfly House was rated as one of the best parts of the day by many of the students. We spent a lot of time standing still and hoping a butterfly might land on us.

A huge thank you to all the parent volunteers who accompanied us to the zoo. Your help ensured that we all had a safe and happy day.
