David's Message

Sail into a universe of possibilities...

We finished up the term with our favourite thing - a great assembly. We had a dance, acknowledged and celebrated our achievements, and made sure we are all ready to come back next term rested, connected and safe.

Dancing the term away!

Over the past few weeks I have been working with the staff, students and school council to reflect on what Sunshine Heights is and has been as party of our school review. I know when I started here last December, that each child, staff member and parent shared how much they loved their school and our community. This time is about asking why; why do we love this school, as well as also taking this a step further and asking ourselves, what next for Sunshine Heights? There will be many opportunities in term 3 for you to connect with us around your views for Sunshine Heights.

Reports are now available through Xuno - you can access this through your app by going to the tab at the top of left hand side and clicking 'Learning' and then 'Reports'. We are really proud of all the progress that our students have made and know that you have each been supporting your child to continue to develop their literacy, numeracy and cross-curricula capabilities during this Semester. Your child's teacher will be able to go deeper with any questions or queries you may have during your Parent Teacher Interview on Tuesday 13th July.

Sunshine in Winter

The air was crisp, leaving the tip of your nose rosy and pink. Snowflakes floated and swirled through the air, nestling in your hair, only to take off in flight again. The trees were blanketed in a thin layer of pure white snow, tiny icicles dangling off the tip of the frosted leaves. Goosebumps would ripple through your skin, your breath visible in the air, like a dragon’s.
A grand, majestic waterfall stands tall. It seemed frozen in time. It seemed to be resting like the bears hibernating. It seemed so quite, no water running, no water splashing. It was cold to the touch. It sizzled the tip of your fingers, the cold running up through your hand. It was frozen; winter doing its magic.
Then a beam of sunlight, filtering through the trees, warming the waterfall. Then another beam of sunlight. Then another, and another. You smile, a wide, bright smile, as the frozen waterfall starts to melt. The water starts flowing, then rushes down, spraying fresh spring water in your face. The sound of the waterfall floods your ears, clearing your mind, like a breath of fresh air, closing the book on a truly magical winter.
