Middle School Semester I: Review
As the semester draws to a close, we can reflect on a busy and eventful term two. It was a term that saw the uncertainty of COVID lockdowns remerge and place challenges on students, teachers and parents alike.
Our Year 7 continue to engage in the peer support program, ably supported by the mentoring of Year 10 students. This has been a positive experience of all students and allowed the Year 7s to feel connected to the greater South Oakleigh community.
Early in the term, Year 8s attended the Log Cabin Camp in Creswick. This was a great opportunity for all the Year 8 students to get to know each other and experience some fantastic activities to develop teamwork and confidence. Finally, our Year 9s continue to grow as responsible citizens, with a strong presence across many school activities and groups including the enrichment clubs, breakfast club and school leadership.

Senior School Semester I: Review
Term 2 has been a busy term for the senior school. Despite our sudden snap lock we have managed to complete all course work for unit 1 and unit 3. This is a reflection on the dedication and skill of our students. As we move to our final weeks of Year 12, we reflect on the success and achievement of our students. We take this time to consolidate on what we have learnt from this term and see what we need to revise and extended upon for the future.
To celebrate the success of our students we held year level award ceremonies.
We have introduced two awards; the House Award – given to two students who best represent the values and character strengths of our 4 great houses. We have also introduced the HRRRT award. This award is to reflect a student that best exemplifies the values of SOC. This award will be given each semester and there is also an overall HRRRT award; awarded twice a year and engraved on the HRRRT Shield
We have continued our Masterclass series with internal and external providers. Our own Mr. Kuruc spoke to our VCE students about motivation and exam stress. Helping our students prepare for their exams.
We have had several providers visit our students to develop our Year 12 English students’ skills with a master class provided by Ticking Minds. Our students were rapt with attention and these skills will serve them well in their upcoming SAC and exams.
The End of Year exam timetable has been released and we will again be hosting external written language exams prior to the main exam block. The exam timetable can be viewed at: https://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/administration/Key-dates/Pages/VCE-exam-timetable.aspx
Our Year 12s received their highly anticipated Year 12 Jackets just in time for winter.
Our Captains organised the design, found the suppliers and presented the final jacket design to their cohort in the theatre with the assistance of our Principal Ms Koziaris,
The jackets are Fairtrade and made ethically and locally in Melbourne.
The GAT will now be held on the 29th of July at 10am.
