Barring Djinang Kindergarten

The City of Port Phillip manages Barring Djinang Kindergarten, located on Level 5 of South Melbourne Primary School. The kindergarten provides an extended hours kindergarten program for children aged three to five years. Opening hours are between 7.30 am and 6 pm Monday to Friday, with a minimum two-day attendance required. 

 

The kindergarten program is provided by a team of professional early years qualified educators and is led by an Early Years Masters qualified teacher. The service has been rated as ‘Exceeding’ National Quality Standards by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA). 

 

Families of four year old children are eligible to access the Victorian Government’s ‘free’ kindergarten in 2021 to the value of around $2,000 reduction in fees over the year. To be eligible your child must be attending a funded kindergarten program in the year before school offered by an appropriately qualified teacher, and your child needs to be attending a minimum of 2 days. The government will help the kindergarten with the cost of your child attending for the kindergarten funded 15 hours each week, and the discount is then applied to your fees weekly.
