Dear Parent and Carers,
Welcome back to Term 3 and I hope the holidays were a time for recharging and relaxation. Overall, we were blessed with great weather and as a state we're doing well with COVID and we continue to pray to St Fidelis to keep our nation safe and well.
Building Update:
Over the holidays, the builders took the opportunity of doing some works while the students were not at school. Outside in the Saunders yard there has been works with underground drainage and installation of a new hydrant. The builder is currently awaiting further advice for placement of drainage pits, etc. This means that the Saunders yard is unsafe at this stage for the students to play in, so the yard will be closed for a period of four weeks.
A timetable for the F-2 students will be implemented to ensure the students can play in the sandpit and playground equipment in the Hawthorn yard with adequate supervision.
Other works over the holidays:
Due to some variations, the estimated date of completion is mid to end of August at this stage.
Other works:
Basketball Backboards: On Wednesday, four of our old wooden basketball backboards will be replaced with new fibreglass backboards. I’m sure the children will enjoy and welcome these new boards.
Flagpole: Our flagpole is in need of repair and will be repaired in the coming weeks.
Whole School Inquiry Concept – CULTURAL DIVERSITY
This term the Whole School Inquiry concept is Cultural Diversity. Cultural Diversity is integral to working and living together in our local and global community. Explorations of the commonalities and differences within and between cultures leads to respect for all and an understanding that culture influences values and behaviour. The significance of Indigenous and (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders) cultures and traditions, as well as Australia’s engagement with Asia and its diverse cultures, will enhance students' understanding.
In today's newsletter in the Learning and Teaching section, you can read each Year Levels Unit Understandings. At the end of this term, we will have a celebration of learning. Dates to be confirmed and more details of this celebration will be advertised closer to the date.
