Year 11 Leadership Day

Next Tuesday the Year 11 cohort will work with the Unleashing Personal Potential Leadership group. This all-day workshop is the beginning of the student leadership process for our Year 11 students. Further specific information on the structure of the day and key dates in the process will be emailed home to Year 11 families later this week.

Term 3 ASH Program

The ASH wellbeing program continues this term. This program takes place at least once per fortnight for each year group. Key topics covered are listed below for parents to be aware of. This knowledge may help facilitate important conversations to be had at home within the family.

Year 5 and 6: Men of Courage topics – please see the Primary news section in this newsletter for further information.

Year 7: Initiating and maintaining friendships including choosing friends, making new friendships and leaving old ones.

Year 8: The science of gratitude including expressing gratitude and the power of giving.

Year 9: Pornography. The Year 9s will be using resources from the ‘It’s time we talk’ website. This site was suggested by Dr Michael Carr-Gregg in his presentation to parents in Term 2. The link is attached https://itstimewetalked.com/resources/parent-tip-sheets/

The Real Life organisation will also present to the students later in the term. Alcohol use will also be a topic discussed this term.

Year 10: In the wellbeing lessons students will continue with the topic of consent and respectful relationships. The issue of relationship violence will also be included. In career lessons work will be done on the set plan process and pathway planning for senior studies.

Year 11: Student leadership and leadership process will be the term focus. Further information will be emailed home to Year 11 families.

Year 12: QTAC, ATAR, further education and the transition process from school to the wider community.

Uniform and Grooming

The vast majority of boys have returned well dressed in their uniform. Since the beginning of term when I am on bus duty in the afternoons it is more the rarity to remind a student about their uniform and more of complimenting the boys on how well they are dressed when boarding the buses. There are however a few boys who are stretching the patience of their pastoral leaders on haircuts with very distinctive layers appearing in the hairstyles and length. Hair must be clean, brushed and neat – off the ears and collar and, when brushed forward, out of the eyes. No distinct layering or ridges with the shortest length a blade 3.
