A PRAYER FOR OUR STUDENTS
Lord, thank you for the unique gifts of every child as they transition into a new school year. Fill each student with fresh enthusiasm and a heart that is excited to learn and grow. Cover them with your enduring love, give them confidence and grace, and equip them with the ability to persevere through trials. Bless their teachers with wisdom, understanding, and a heart to serve, as they embark on the journey together! Amen.

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER & ACTION AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING
Pope Francis has designated 8th February, the feast of St Josephine Bakhita, as the World Day of Prayer, Reflection and Action Against Human Trafficking.
Josephine Bakhita was born in Southern Sudan in 1869. During her life she experienced kidnapping and slavery in both Sudan and Italy. After gaining her freedom Josephine dedicated her life to sharing her story and to supporting the poor and suffering. She became a Canossian Sister and was canonised in 2000.
This weekend may each of us be willing to find time to learn a little more about human trafficking and slavery in the world today. See what you can do at www.acrath.org.au
PROJECT COMPASSION SUNDAY 14th February
Next Sunday, 14th February, is Project Compassion Sunday, when Project Compassion boxes and envelopes are distributed in Catholic parishes across Australia.
In challenging times, it is often our instinct to pull back and withdraw into ourselves. It can feel especially hard to help others when we are struggling to satisfy our own needs, unsure what tomorrow might hold. The COVID-19 pandemic has stirred this feeling of unease in many of us and we hope for a more stable and positive 2021.
But it is when life is toughest and most demanding that the gospel calls us to “dig deeper” and to go further. In Matthew 5, Jesus says “if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.” Your support allows Caritas to step out into the neediest communities, expressing love and compassion for the most vulnerable on your behalf.
The theme of PC21 is BE MORE. It challenges us to venture into a new experience of compassion, and is taken from the invitation of Saint Oscar Romero, to “Aspire not to have more, but to be more.” This message invites us to step up and step out for those who do not have the essential resources they need for their survival. Those whose needs at this time are far beyond ours.
