Junior School Induction

This week, we inducted our 2021 Junior School Leadership team and held a morning tea to celebrate this special occasion!

Congratulations everyone!

Women in science incursion

Joanna Mitsaris and Jess Bonham

On 11 February, girls studying Year 11 Biology attended an online conference to celebrate Women and Girls in STEM.

We were able to learn about careers and research other women in the biology field. It was really valuable and enjoyable to see what you can achieve with biology.

Each presenter thoroughly explained their career and what their daily schedule looks like.

They explained their journey from VCE and where their career paths took them. It was a real eye-opener and got us thinking about careers in science.

The women have come very far, and explaining their different kind of STEM careers answered many of our questions and queries. Overall, it was a great, new and exciting opportunity for all us girls.

Year 9 Lift Off Week

To kick off our year-long Impact program, a holistic and unique program that gives our students the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to help them thrive at school and life after Kilvington, all Year 9 students spend one week together to establish the vision for the year ahead.

During this 'Lift Off Week', students explore the city, delve into current social issues in preparation for their Monash social enterprise project and focus on their chosen expedition.

Here are some quotes from the Year 9s on their recent Lift Off Week experience:

Jack Campbell-Manley

It was eye-opening to see the city from another perspective. I learnt a lot about the struggles people have to go through culturally, physically and mentally.

Charlotte Fisher (new student to Kilvington)

I really enjoyed my independence around the city, building connections and making friends with my peers. I also really loved the food. It was very interesting to see how others live, and I feel more grateful for what I have in life.

Luke Scicluna

At the start of the program, I felt a bit nervous about heading to the city. However, after this experience I gained more confidence to travel around the city. It has given me a good insight into city life.

Adhvik Bala-Aiyer

I  really enjoyed catching public transport, walking around the city with my friends and building new connections with my peers.

Hamish McKenzie

It was a very insightful to see how hard some people’s lives can be. I really enjoyed learning how to use public transport in the CBD. I also enhanced friendships within the Year 9 level.

Maria Wang

Over the course of the program, it was an absolute privilege to be able to personally listen to the stories of people who have been adversely affected by either their race, religion or life choices.
