Year 10 Foods
Ms Twigg's Year 10 Foods class had their first catering event on Thursday 15th February. They catered morning tea and lunch for the staff at the Swimming Carnival.
Preparation for the event started during Headstart in 2017. They spent time researching recipe ideas and surveying staff. They came up with some great options which they then trialled, taste tested and adjusted flavours before the final menu selection.
Throughout this exercise they developed an understanding of the importance of time management, the need to be flexible and how vital preparation and forward planning is for the success of any catering function.
On the day of the event, Jesse Carter, Kasidy Maddy Lucas and Choise Maddy Lucas were the key students who assisted with early morning preparation, setting up and serving our customers. They made sure they were well informed about the dishes and could tell the staff which students were involved in the planning, preparation and production of each item. A key group of other students came in throughout the day to help with the clean-up and resetting between courses.
Congratulations to the class who worked well as a team which is what made the event successful:
Jesse Carter, Cheyenne Cornish, Kayla Eddy, Teagan Forster, Hayley Geisler,Riley Hare, Jab Kerr-Langford, Vilisi Lecanadau, Aiden Lester, Kasidy Maddy-Lucas, Kim McKean, Lily Moore, Mikala Murdoch, Phoebe Murdoch, Chloe Newton, Elsie Oliver, Zoe Poustie and Madison Power.
