Most Frequent Borrowers Program
We are continuing with our Most Frequent Library Borrowers Awards Program this year to encourage reading for pleasure.
At the end of every term, I would check out students who have been borrowing books to read for pleasure, on a regular basis.
Students from the HS, LAF and the IEC are chosen and they get awarded with a Most Frequent Borrower Certificate and present, based on their previous term’s borrowing.
Our 5 most frequent borrowers from term one were:
From the High School: Omid Hedayat and Elena Bruce
From LAF: George Obucina
From IEC: Henry Adomako and Nida Muhammad
'Get Caught Reading' Raffle
The “Get Caught Reading” Raffle is a great initiative to encourage students to use the library for reading for pleasure during recess and lunch. The Librarian takes a photo of the student “caught reading” in the library to add to the collection of photos displayed in the library. Students are also issued with a raffle ticket. At the end of each term, three raffles are drawn out at assembly and students will receive a prize.
Congratulations to our three winners, Kobie Brien, Keshuv Yuganathan and Declan Ryan, on winning the “Get Caught Reading “ Raffle for term one.
Happy reading always!!!

New Books Display
We are continually getting fantastic new reading resources on our shelves, including fiction, non-fiction, bilingual picture books, quick reads and graphic novels. Please visit your library and check out some of our newest titles as we are sure you will be able to find an amazing read.
Author of the Month - Anthony Horowitz
You are invited to check out our special display for the author of the month, Anthony Horowitz. He is an English novelist and screenwriter specialising in mystery and suspense. His work for young adult readers includes ‘The Diamond Brothers’ series, the ‘Alex Rider’ series, and ‘The Power of Five’ series. We have a big number of his books on display in our library.
Mothers Day Display
A big thank you to our talented student in year 10, Nathania Villamor, for sharing her drawing passion with us. Nathania created a lovely mother’s day artwork, using MediBang Paint which is a digital design and painting app to create all sorts of drawings and sketches.
Year 8 Information Literacy Program
Year 8 students have been learning about Information Literacy during their library lessons. As there is so much information available to our students, both online and in books, it can be hard and challenging for students to know where to start when they are given a research task.
Students have been introduced to the Information Skills Process (ISP) which is a step by step guide that assists students in completing their research assignments. Students also became familiar with the Lotus Diagram, which is an analytical tool for breaking down broad topics into sub-topics and for generating ideas and link concepts.
