L.O.T.E

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
On Friday, 18th October 2019, all students from Rangeview Primary School will be involved in a special German Oktoberfest celebration filled with fun, food, cultural activities and entertainment. The Rangeview Oktoberfest is an annual whole-school celebration of the importance of LOTE (Languages Other Than English) at primary school and will provide children with the opportunity to take part in German cooking activities, art/craft activities, German party games, singing and dancing and much more. Students may also enjoy a German lunch of “Würstchen” (sausages), “Apfelstrudel” (apple strudel), “Bienenstich” (beesting cake), “Pfefferkuchen” (gingerbread) and “Brezeln” (pretzels).
Students are invited to dress in either the colours of the German flag (back, red, gold/yellow) or in the traditional German (Bavarian) costumes “Lederhosen” and “Dirndlkleid”. Prizes will be awarded to the ‘best dressed’ students from each grade during the assembly at the end of the day. If none of the above is feasible, school uniform should be worn. All students will also wear special Oktoberfest hats. Students will make and decorate their hats prior to the day.
Parents/guardians are most welcome to attend this special event. If you are interested in participating on the day and would like to assist your child’s class teacher with an Oktoberfest activity, please contact the teacher concerned prior to the day. You are also invited to attend the whole-school assembly at 2:00 pm in the hall on that day. We look forward to celebrating a fantastisch Oktoberfest.
Liebe Grüße,
Frau Ulrike Lindner Frau Kyla Petrilli Frau Helga Shaw
