Message from the Principal

Welcome to Week 4 Term 1

Welcome  to our fourth newsletter of the year.

As we head to the halfway point of our first term, students are settled into routines and are investigating curriculum areas around 'Belonging'.  The main focus in 5/6 is on the Health curriculum as well as the Personal and Social Capability. I thank the parents in 5/6 who attended our information session this week around the Health curriculum and the content that the students will be discussing in class. Puberty and adolescence can be a tricky time for all involved, so I hope the information shared will be  helpful.

Our Year 6 leaders have received the symbols of their leadership- their jackets and their badges - and have begun to develop ideas in their leadership groups for initiatives across the school. I look forward to working with them this year.

Lent

Next Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a period of time where we are reminded of the importance of sacrifice, prayer and looking after those in need. Lent helps us more deeply understand the Easter event that is at the centre of our Christian faith.

We can use this time to consider how our actions are defining our relationship with God, with others and with our deepest self.  Lent is a time for renewing those relationships based on compassion, truth and justice. The whole school will begin to prepare for Lent on Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day) by making pancakes and then will attend mass at 9am on Ash Wednesday. Family members are welcome to join us.

God of goodness and mercy,

Hear my prayer as I begin this Lenten journey with you. Let me be honest with myself as I look into my heart and soul, noticing the times I turn away from you. Guide me as I humbly seek to repent and return to your love.

May humility guide my efforts to be reconciled with you and live forever in your abundant grace.

Transform me this Lent, heavenly Father. Give me the strength to commit myself to grow closer to you each day.

Amen.

I wish you all a good week.
