Primary Kaboom Sports Day

Monday 29th November, 2021

“I like to move it, move it!” I heard everybody screaming while Liam and other teachers were dancing. We had to copy them. They performed crazy dance moves during the opening ceremony. It was funny and embarrassing.

At the very beginning, all the year levels were sitting together. The music was playing and the sun was shining. The microphone KABOOMED in my ears and Phil told us how the day was going to roll. After that, the games began. We were representing different countries of the world including Philippines, Brazil and Portugal. We took part in different activities including golf, soccer, a stilts race and ball target throwing.

At lunch I smelt the sausages but I had the veggie burger. It was so good.

At the end of it, I realised it was a fun Kaboom Sports Day.

Thank you for supporting school pop-up vaccination clinics

Dear Kerrie Heenan and team,

We are writing to express our sincere thanks and gratitude for your incredible support of the Victorian Government’s school pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinics.

The program, which began in the middle of September, has now concluded, with the final school vaccination session held on Sunday 14 November 2021.

In those two months, 70 schools across Victoria, including The Lakes South Morang College, made their facilities available to vaccinate people in their local and school communities. More than 34,000 people received a first or second-dose vaccination at a school pop-up clinic.

That is a wonderful result, and one made possible through your hard work. From school teams who mobilised and encouraged their local communities to get vaccinated, through to health providers who administered the vaccines, you have all played an important role and we extend our deepest gratitude.

Additionally, we are exceptionally grateful of the Koorie Engagement Support Officers and

bi-cultural workers who went above and beyond in supporting and encouraging communities to come forward for their vaccinations.

The program helped reach many Victorians who may have faced barriers or delays in getting vaccinated, including those in regional areas or culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

It is no exaggeration to say that through your hard work, dedication and commitment in supporting the school pop-ups, the lives of thousands of Victorians have been protected.

Once again, our deepest thanks,

The Hon. James Merlino

Deputy Premier and Minister for Education

The Hon. Martin Foley

Minister for Health

Every Day Counts

If you are aware that your child will not be attending school due to illness or other circumstances, please ensure that you contact either office to ensure our attendance records are accurate.  Ways of communicating absences include:

  • Calling the office;
  • Sending an SMS on 0427 226 537;
  • Placing a future Absence Request through  the Parent SENTRAL Portal.

As required by the Department of Education, all schools must notify parents informing that their child is absent.  Please inform the office of absences before 10:00 am each morning.

Sentral Parent Portal Access

The Sentral Parent Portal is the primary method for home-school communications at The Lakes.

We are excited to say that most families have access to the Parent Portal. The portal allows students and parents\carers to keep up to date with important information and communication. This includes student academic reports, parent-teacher interview bookings and permission for students to attend camps, sport and excursions.

The Student and Parent Portal can be accessed at school, from home and from mobile devices. To assist families without internet facilities at home, The Lakes has installed mobile technology devices into both the Primary and Secondary offices for families to access.

If you are experiencing any issues with Sentral, please contact either office to assist you.
