COVID-19 School Operations Update

The Victorian Government has announced important changes to the management of COVID-19 cases and close contacts in schools and other settings as we reach the 90% double dose milestone for eligible people in the coming days.

This means that students and staff who are exposed persons (previously identified as close contacts in education settings) from an exposure at school, no longer have to quarantine for between 7 and 14 days. They can instead return immediately to school after providing evidence of a negative result from a standard PCR test.

Contacts will receive a pack of five rapid antigen tests from the PCR testing location and should take the test each day before school until they run out. Schools will no longer distribute rapid antigen testing kits. Instead, these will be available for collection from PCR testing centres at the time a student or staff member attends for the PCR test.

Of course, any student or staff member who returns a positive rapid antigen test result must notify the school and immediately get a PCR test.

These new procedures will considerably simplify the management of contacts for schools and will enable more students to return to onsite learning more quickly.

We have been so fortunate (whether that be because of our COVID-Safe practices in place or just luck) in that we have yet to be forced to enact procedures for responding to an outbreak and fingers crossed that the trend continues.

With only 3  weeks remaining of the school year (how frightening is that?) we will continue to be ultra cautious and our current School Operations will remain in place with the one exception being that face masks are now only required by staff, visitors and Years 3 to 6 students in an indoor space. The wearing of masks remains recommended for Year Prep to Year 2 students and in circumstances where physical distancing cannot be maintained.

Christmas Dance Party

It's been such a long time since we have had the opportunity to celebrate as a whole community in any way, shape or form and since we missed out on our end of year Christmas picnic/concert last year we are determined to do something this year.

So... with only a limited amount of time to prepare (due to density restrictions just being lifted) why not go 'out with a bang' by hosting an end of year Christmas Dance Party!

This will be an event not to be missed. Gather up your picnic gear, put your dancing shoes on and dress to impress.

Gates will open at 5:00pm for families to gather in the central courtyard for a picnic (BYO everything) and catch up on old times. At 6:00pm get ready to boogie as the Footsteps Dance Crew will lead you all  (parents and children) in some dance routines and crazes. At 7:00pm take a breather as we present and farewell our Year 6 Graduates before drawing the winners of our Christmas Raffle (tickets will go on sale next week). And you never know... there might even be a visit of a man in red!

We hope this proves a wonderful opportunity to finish off the year on a high. Remember to BYO everything.

2022 Planning Days

With the end of the year fast approaching teaching teams will be given time to plan extensively for 2021. On these days children will receive double specialist sessions to facilitate the planning.  To make it easy for all we have been able to schedule everything so that the children will still wear their sports uniform on their regular days.

Year Prep 2022 Transition

Next Wednesday, 1st December we will host our final Prep 2022 Transition session from 2:00pm to 3:15pm.

Full details have been communicated to families.

Fees and Levies

Thank you to all families who are up-to-date with Fees and Levies for 2021. Normally the final date for payment of fees is the end of Third Term (unless on a payment plan) but with the year we have had, and as previously communicated, we have extended the due date until 30th November, which is next Tuesday.

An up-to-date statement has been sent to families  and we request that all accounts be settled accordingly.

Assemblies

As we approach the Advent season our School Assemblies will be conducted in the Community Hall so that we can incorporate our Advent Paraliturgies. For the time being we will continue to restrict attendees to students and teachers only ,as per current school operations.

For those interested, we will record each of these restricted assemblies and post them on our website shortly thereafter.

Diary Dates

As  Victoria heads towards the 90% Double Vaccination benchmark, restrictions will ease which will allow us to  'open up' further. So please keep an eye on the school calendar (which can be found at https://www.cckingsville.catholic.edu.au/calendar/) for event additions.
