The Feast of Christ the King

Last Sunday the Catholic Church celebrated the Feast of Christ the King, the feast day that marks the end of the Church’s liturgical year. During this week we honour Jesus as our King. Although we call Jesus the king of our hearts and lives, the image he used to describe himself was ‘shepherd’. 

Flocks in biblical times (and still in some parts of the world) were much smaller than they often are today. The sheep depended totally on their shepherd: a good shepherd cared for his sheep almost as if they were his children. He knew each of them and had names for them. He found pasture and shelter for them and protected them against wolves and thieves. The sheep learned their shepherd's voice and knew to follow only him.

In the way Jesus cares for us, He gives us an example of how we are to care for others.

Next Sunday, 28th November,  we begin the season of Advent as we begin preparing ourselves for the birth of Jesus at Christmas time.

Let us pray:

Almighty and merciful God, 

you break the power of evil 

and make all things new 

in your Son Jesus Christ, 

the King of the universe.

May all in heaven and earth

acclaim your glory 

and never cease to praise you.

We ask this through our Lord 

Jesus Christ, your Son, 

who lives and reigns with you 

and the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever.

Congratulations

Congratulations to our Year 2 students who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation last night. The children were excited to take this important step in their faith journey.

Thank you to Miss Borg, Miss Marakis and Miss Reaney for preparing the children so beautifully.

First Holy Communion

After the unfortunate cancellation of our Year 3 and Year 4 First Communion Masses recently we have our fingers crossed that all goes according to plan next Wednesday 1st December. The children are eagerly waiting to experience the Sacrament of the Eucharist. 

Please keep the children and their families in your prayers in these final days of preparation. And an extra prayer or two that we actually go ahead as planned this time would be greatly appreciated by us all!!
