Wellbeing

How full is your bucket?

This week, we are being mindful to keep our (emotional) buckets above 5! Students enjoyed the analogy of drips (balls) in the bucket being thrown out because of negative actions and words. Similarly, the drips were returned to the bucket with positive comments and body language. The students have embraced the concept of protecting their bucket (‘putting their lid on it’) to take care of their emotional wellbeing. Our aim is to always keep our bucket level above 5 (5/10). It has been empowering to learn that we can be in control of our own happiness and (emotional) buckets!

The F-1 students have delighted in producing their personal, ‘stay above 5 hands’. These ideas are to be used if their bucket begins to drop below the 5.

The 2-6’s are using technology to develop their own Positive Coping Profile. They have studied a range of Coping Styles including: - Shifting Attention, Getting Organised, Energetic, Self-Calming and Social Activities.

All students have enjoyed practising a variety of relaxation (Self-Calming) techniques in the classroom over recent weeks.

Last week, Kerrie the Kangaroo joined the team adding another dynamic to the already colourful line up of F-1 puppets. The puppets provide the means to develop many concepts in Wellbeing for the younger students. This week’s focus was making and keeping friends with students suggesting strategies and discussing appropriate phrases.
