Catholic Education Week

Catholic Education Week is held annually in Term 2 and is about celebrating all Catholic schools and the excellent teaching and learning across Catholic Education SA.  It is a great opportunity for families to explore the benefits of Catholic Education.

On Wednesday many families enjoyed a cup of coffee and a muffin and the children enjoyed a sausage during celebrations for Catholic Education week at St Gabriel's School.

The Year 5 students celebrated Catholic Education week at Mass today and spread the word about how great St Gabriel's students are to the parish.

Ascension Sunday and Pentecost

The resurrection of Jesus was celebrated nearly fifty days ago.  The word Pentecost

comes from the Greek word pentekoste which means fiftieth.  So around the fiftieth Day after the Resurrection, the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples and began  changing of hearts and minds to spread the message of Jesus around the world.  This was difficult for the early Christians as they were fearful and unsure of what to do.

Jesus' return to the Father at the Ascension left the disciples lacking the courage and strength to go out into the world to continue His mission.

With the the help of the Holy Spirit that descended upon the disciples at Pentecost, they received the courage and wisdom to spread the news of Jesus Christ to the world.

We are also asked to spread the word of Jesus through the example of our life.  We are called by God to be agents of peace, love, compassion and community.  Let the Holy Spirit guide us and give us strength to live our life to the full.

Happy Pentecost everyone
