Explore the Learning in Grade 6

This term the Grade 6's have been doing some amazing things, from sports, to Indonesian speaking competitions to fantastic project work.

 

Indonesian Speaking Competition

 

Congratulations to: Annika, Bronte, Frankie, Holly, Kenzie, Max D, Skye and Sunny

 

For your outstanding efforts at the Indonesian speaking competition held at Star of the Sea Primary School earlier this term. 

 

Australian History Project - Inquiry

 

During this unit students investigated and gained awareness of defining moments of Australia’s history. They visited the Australian Sports Museum and toured the Melbourne Cricket Ground where they had opportunities to engage with rich historical moments, stories and artefacts. Students also investigated an area of choice, researching and then completing the writing cycle for an information report and information poster, including images, timeline, diagrams and a map.

 

 

Persuasive Writing

 

Students chose a topic to write a persuasive text on, we gradually went through the writing cycle of thinking of an idea, planning, researching, drafting, revising, editing, conferencing and publishing.

 

 

Sport

 

During this term students participated in a number of sports, including, cross country, winter lightning premiership, and division sports for AFL and Tee Ball. Our Grade 6 students conducted themselves in a manner to be proud of, showing impeccable sportsmanship, persistence and humility.

 

 

Australian Sports Muesum & MCG Tour

 

To celebrate our Inquiry unit looking into Australian History, students attended the Australian Sports Muesum and participated in a MCG tour. Here students learned about defining moments in Australian sports, such as The Melbourne Cup, learned about Shane Warne, Cadal Evans and many more, the saw the Sports Hall of Fame and were able to learn more about sports people.
