Learning in J14

Junior School J14 Annapureddy is sharing the learning taking place in their class…

J14 has welcomed Term 2 with Inquiry.

Over the past two weeks, we have learned about the materials that we use in our daily lives.  First, we explored the things that we use in our classroom, at home, at school, and anywhere in our lives.  Then we discussed in pairs what those things are made out of.  We figured out that we use lots of materials from nature such as wood, metal, rocks, sand, mud, stones, leather, cotton, and man-made materials such as plastic, paper, rubber, fabric and glass in our lives.  We also learned about the properties of those materials such as wood is opaque, plastic can be both soft and hard.  Metal melts in fire and then is poured into molds and cooled down to make the objects that we want.  Here are some pictures of our observations.

In our Respectful Relation session, we have learned about ‘Empathy’, an important life skill to make the world peaceful and friendly.  We made the empathy tree with empathy notes and rainbows.  We wrote about an incident when one of our classmates was being empathetic to us on the leaves and the ways how we can show empathy on the rainbows. Here are some of the pictures of our amazing work!

We completed Week 2 with a fabulous Swimming experience at SPLASH.  We all enjoyed the swimming sessions while following the 3Rs of PSPS.
