Music

End of Term Round Up

This term in Music, we have enjoyed performances that showcased the diversity and depth of the talent here at IPS. Rock bands were a feature at the  Welcome Picnic, whilst year sixes and year fives shared music from the classroom program at two of our assemblies. We have had performances by Corelli Strings, our middle school ensemble, as well as the Senior School Orchestra who performed ‘Ludwig’s Dance Party’  at last Monday’s assembly. Finally, we had an open morning for Start Up Strings where a gathering of happy parents watched our beginner violin and cello players demonstrate their skills and perform favourite tunes.  What an effort by all. Thank you to our staff and students who have made these performances possible. Well done to all our musicians -you are making great progress.

Start Up Strings Open Morning

Thank You

Thank you to Jennette Green who has completed her first full term in Music at IPS. The students in Foundation, 1, & 2 have been singing and dancing along to the delightful activities Jennette has prepared. In Term 3 we will be working towards the Night of Music concert. This is a Strings and Choral event. Jennette has superb vocal capabilities which will come in handy for our choir students.

Battle of the Bands is our major concert event for Term 2.

Every class in years five and six prepare a song and are fully engaged in singing, dancing and instrumental activities. Recess and lunch times are available for extra rehearsals. Students need to come and see me to book a time for their group. It’s such an exciting event as the vocal and instrumental accompaniments, as well as the choreography for the dances are created by the students. The whole school attends the event and parents are welcome. It will be live streamed for those who are unable to come along on the day.

Do You Play in a Band?

We have many talented parents in the school. I am recruiting musicians, technical support, and bands for the fair in November. I don’t have a budget – but can provide food and drink to the performers. If your band would like to perform on stage at the IPS Fair drop me a line. I’d love a chat.
