Welcome to Ivanhoe Primary School,
It's hard to believe that a term of school is already coming to a close. Post pandemic it is wonderful to have our community back on school grounds. For most, it has been a wonderful term full of excitement, learning and laughter. For some, the journey has been a little tougher, but I am confident that our continued commitment to working together will have everyone smiling by year's end.
Let me share an example of excellence. Our year 6 students have designed and built their own arcade games to rival timezone. This is the culmination of months of work involving science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Trial and error, laughter and perhaps tears but ultimately, wonderful examples of resilience, perseverance, and learning.
In many instances, the students collaborated on these amazing projects. They shared their work over a two-day expo with every student and many parents. Year 6 have capitalised on their initiative to raise money to reduce the costs associated with their impending camp to Canberra. Our school and our students are truly amazing.
At the time of this newsletter being published the total funds raised is $2,173. This equates to a $35 saving on each attending student's camp fees. Well done Year 6!
While the students will do a proper write up on their projects next term, please take the time to visit the Arcade Day page of this edition of "Inside Ivanhoe” and check out the videos. Every single video is testament to the Year 6 students and teachers’ commitment to excellence.
Calling all dads – we need some help for the Mother’s Day Breakfast!
Running the Mother’s Day breakfast needs some Dad support – so if you’re able to assist on the morning of Thurs May 11th it would be greatly appreciated. It’s pretty easy, just helping to setup, serve and clean-up. No cooking, just need some bodies from 6:30 – 9:30am.
If you can help out please contact Lance Greenwood – lance.greenwood@initiative.com.au.
This is going to be an exciting year for our community. Please join us by contacting our PFA Coordinator, Andrea Thomas on 0431 953 720.
Thank you to our Business Manager, Lisa for sharing this piece of our history.
I think we have a lot to be proud of and that our forebears would agree. As custodians, it is our job to make sure we keep our commitment to high standards and pass our school on to future generations to manage as the best school it can possibly be.
Pam Wright has been officially appointed acting principal of IPS for Term 2. Christine Hemsley will be acting AP. There are procedures in place to ensure that everything runs smoothly. From our handyman, to the office, to the library, ed support, integration, OSHC, classrooms and specialist programs we are a strong team committed to our community of learners.
Stay safe and look after each other.
