School Leader's Update

A message from some of our leaders:

Being a leader so far this year has granted me so many opportunities to involve myself amongst the Heathmont College community. This Included working with peers in all year levels organising and aiding at events such as our Swimming Carnival, and The College Open Night.

I have also had the opportunity to help organise this year's Harmony Day at Heathmont College, which involved the celebration and recognition of cultural diversity. It was so wonderful seeing so many students and staff dressing in their traditional culture attires. The overwhelming amount of support from staff and students in organising the event made the day run smoothly and was extremely rewarding.

I am really looking forward to what this year’s future holds and the many more opportunities that will arise. I hope everyone has had a great start to the year.

As a leader at Heathmont College, I have always focused on fostering a compassion culture and prioritising student voices. One way I contribute to this goal is through mentoring younger students to emphasize the importance of school for their future. By sharing my knowledge and experience with them, I hope to inspire and motivate them to become strong, intelligent, and curious individuals. Additionally, I believe in welcoming new students and parents through events like the college open night, where I assist in providing a warm and inviting atmosphere. Looking forward, I am excited to see how the students I mentor continue to grow and prosper, and I am committed to supporting them every step of the way.

The start of term 2 has been amazing. To start off from a Year 12 point of view we would all like to thank our house leaders and staff for putting on a BBQ for our cohort especially to Mr. Chappell who organised and cooked the BBQ. In other exciting news the school film is coming together nicely, as well as a new student voice initiative called ‘Heathmont Talks’ so watch this space for more details!! At the start of term, we also had our school cross country which was an amazing event, congratulations to all participants and winners on the day. Also, a massive congratulations to the intermediate boys netball who won their division and are moving on to the next round. Lastly, I would just like to thank all students and staff who have been making school an amazing environment to be in at the moment, hopefully the trend continues as it has been fantastic to see.

Until next time.
