Two more wonderful woman on School Council to introduce:

Sally Cash

Sally has about 25 years experience in education, writing and delivering curriculum to students from preschool to adult. She has enjoyed working in the publishing sector to write and publish content for years 7-10 Science and VCE Biology, as well as 2 fabulous years behind the scenes at the Melbourne Museum. Sally has been teaching grades 5-12 at Strathcona Girls Grammar in Canterbury for the last 4 years. She currentlyhas 3 kids at MPS in grades 3, 4 and 6.

Robyn James

Robyn has been the Principal of Malvern Primary School since April 2017.  This is the third school she has been Principal of,  with her first appointment in 2003.

"I began my teaching career as a secondary English and History teacher in 1985 in a rural school, before moving to the primary sector and back to Melbourne.

As a young school leader, I implemented IT into my schools, supporting both teacher and student skills.  It was during this time that I fully appreciated the ability of our students to adapt and grow beside the adults (and sometimes in spite of the adults), as their skill growth surpassed most of the adults at the time and they became our teachers.  Children are fearless learners, who will often learn unintended lessons and skills because everything is possible – we need to trust in this more.

I see our role as providing a strong education covering the core curriculum and offering our students with a broad set of experiences that enable them to broaden their skills, interests and passions.  We are told by secondary educators and employers that the essential skills in the changing job market are problem solving, creativity and an ability to work collaboratively – these are skills we are encouraging in our students.

I am constantly in awe of our students, their ideas and compassion.  I enjoy the opportunity to sit with the students, hear their ideas and support them to make an idea come to life, no matter how small.  I also appreciate the support and encouragement of our students from the parents and staff – as a community we are seeing the development of the future community leaders."
