Principal's Message

Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families,

Maramba Community ANZAC Day Commemoration

It has been fantastic to see some of the amazing ways our families commemorated this very important event and thank you for sharing this with our community too.

At 5:30am on Saturday, standing in the driveway, it was great to see other people in the neighbourhood standing in their driveways to join in solidarity in recognising all armed services personnel for a combined dawn service. It was this united act that made us all feel and know we are connected even though we are apart in isolation.

Amidst all of the challenges and hardships we are facing as a community and a nation today, it gave a different perspective of the sacrifice our brave men and women in the armed services made for the life and liberty of others.

Having stood on the hallowed grounds of Gallipoli and paid my respects at a number of memorials around the world, this ANZAC Day was personally a very surreal experience and one that I will remember forever.

Lest we forget!

Online Teaching and Learning Update

Week 2 of online learning is nearly complete and everyone has continued to do an amazing job! As each day and week passes, students, families and staff are increasing in confidence and starting to find a great rhythm with learning, working and teaching from home.

We hope the changes we have been slowly developing and implementing to our program have supported the different needs of families. It may never be perfect but we are always exploring ways to improve what we do as a school in the best interests of our community. Feedback from students and families has been an important part of this too.

As part of this, we have developed a website   https://www.marambaonline.com

to provide our students and families with an additional resource, which can be accessed at any time. While these will support our student’s learning, they are not directly linked to the online teaching and learning program.

They are for a little bit of extra fun and are completely optional.

There is a page for each subject area of our curriculum with a range of suggested educational sites, links or activities families can do together or students can do independently.

There are three main sections of the website:

  • Start Here:
    • Provides an overview of the site and has some helpful links and tips on how to access and use the learning tools our students and families are using.
  • Year group tabs:
    • Has each year group’s weekly timetable;
    • a brief explanation of the timetable’s different parts;
    • links to either Class Dojo and / or Teams.
  • Home Learning Links:
    • A page for each subject area of our curriculum;
    • a range of suggested sites, links or activities families can do together or students can do independently;
    • while these will support our student’s learning they are not directly linked to the online teaching and learning program.

Have fun exploring and learning!

Kind regards,

Darren Wallace
