WHAT'S HAPPENING @ SCSC

Community Food Drive
The College is proud to still be supporting Salvos Connect and those in need in our community through a Food Drive. Food donation boxes are in the locations listed on the poster below. Staff, parent and student volunteers will be working in our College kitchens on Friday mornings to cook meals to distribute along with the donated non-perishable items to local families in need. Social distancing and strict hygiene measures will be followed. Please give what you can at any of the locations to help this community project.
Food Drive Cook - Friday 8th May 2020
A huge congratulations and thank you to all of the volunteers who worked on site, following social distancing guidelines, to make 164- 700ml serves of soup (that’s 114 litres!!!!!) and 150- parcels of dinner rolls for those in need.
Many thanks to the student helpers: Kayla Hardy, Star Lawson, Melody Luke, Iesha Jade-Swan, Archie French and parent Wendy O’Neill. Special thanks to our coordinating staff Peter Gunning, Jacqui Scott, Steve Robertson, Simon Gale and James Ashley.
Some of this food is with the wellbeing team helping out SCSC families along with the donations from the drop off points. The rest is on its way to the families that need it thanks to the Salvation Army.
Many thanks to Woolworths and Coles Torquay for your kind donations. Staff at SCSC also pitched in $700 of their own money towards the project when we asked for donations towards buying some containers. What a wonderful community we have!
Finn's Long Lock Shave
Hi,
I’m challenging myself to shave my hair to support Cancer Council in their mission for a cancer free future.
Please sponsor me and support my efforts to give back and change lives.
Because 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, I’m losing my locks to raise funds and show my support. I'll donate my hair to Variety Australia Hair with Heart to make a natural wig for a child who has lost their hair due to illness.
Please sponsor me to support cancer research and provide vital services for Australians living with cancer. Together, we can free the future from cancer.

Cancer Council is a community funded organisation, working in local communities to help support people as they navigate their cancer journey. Their work is really important, and I want to do what I can to help. But there is only so much I can do on my own. You can help too, by donating. Any amount you can give makes a difference!
Thank you so much for your support - it is truly appreciated.
Best wishes,
Finn

IDAHOBIT Day - May 17th
Celebrations for IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia & Transphobia) are this week May 11th - 15th 2020. More information will be posted on our Facebook page this week.
Tonight in the Green Room
As we are unable to perform the 2020 Addam’s Family school production, SCSC is excited to announce a double year of Tonight In the Green Room! This production is a space for our students to express themselves and provide entertainment to our school community and will be held, all things going well, sometime during Term 4. Tonight In the Green Room is a ticketed event so auditions are necessary. Are you a singer, songwriter, dancer, actor, magician or comedian interested in sharing your talent? Think you could be a lively, funny host for this event? Please see the Compass message sent last Friday 8th May for more info on how auditions will take place remotely for this event from Week 7.
