Principal's Message

Rise to the Challenge

With everything that’s happening in every school across NSW, we have to take the time to celebrate and acknowledge what we continue to achieve as a school and a community for our kids! I enjoy catching up with students learning from home during zoom check in sessions.- I’ve learnt that no matter how old you are or how many zoom meetings you’ve joined in, it is highly likely you’ll forget to unmute yourself and talk like everybody can hear you!

Positive Relationships

With announcements about the timing of when students will be able to return to “face-to-face” teaching in Term 4, there is a pathway ahead for our Galilee school community. The Premier announced the proposed “staggered return” arrangements beginning with Kindergarten and Year 1 on Monday 25 October, Year 2 and Year 6 students from Monday 1 November, and then Years 3 to 5 from Monday 8 November, however, this is all subject to change.

I believe it will be the strength of the positive relationships between Galilee families, students and the school staff that will help us get through this together! And Galilee school community is certainly known for its positive feel and pastoral support for one another.

We all need to balance the competing needs of educational outcomes and the health and safety of all people in our community. In practical terms, this means parents/carers supporting the home learning of students as best they can, understanding that the staff of school are doing the absolute best they can to provide quality “remote learning plans”, and families making careful judgements about sending their child to “onsite” schooling.

Rest in Peace Josephine
Rest in Peace Josephine

On behalf of the Gillan family and Galilee, all are invited to join in a livestream Mass in celebration of the life of Josephine Gillan. To join the Mass please use the link below. The Mass will commence at 11am on Friday 10 September.

As you join the Mass you are invited to light a candle and be seated comfortably in a reflective space. Your family are welcome to listen to the prayers, scripture and music. United in our grief, our prayers for Jo and her family, friends and the Galilee community will give us all some comfort and the opportunity to honour the memory of this extraordinary woman that we loved.

We offer our thoughts and prayers to the Gillan Family. May eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and may perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.

Teacher Aide Appreciation Week

Last week was Teacher Aide Appreciation Week. It is a perfect time and opportunity to acknowledge the important role of our teacher aide, whose hard work and dedication makes a difference to students, teachers and the school community.

At the moment our teacher aide Ms Fan is at Galilee everyday to support the children of authorised workers. She constantly goes above and beyond to make a difference to the lives of our students, parents and teachers. Thank you Ms Fan!

Regards
