Mental Resilience
A point of discussion that has emerged these Olympics (apart from our fabulous Boomers’ bronze!) is mental resilience. Mental strength is a quality that helps a person at every stage and in every area of life (not just sport!) – and it is something that we can actively encourage and nurture in our children.
An interesting article identified 7 key strengths seen in resilient children:
- They empower themselves
- They adapt to change
- They know when to say ‘no’
- They own their own mistakes
- They celebrate other people’s success
- They fail…and try again
- They persist
