Farm Skills & Dowerin Fencing Training

This week we have started our Farm Skills training. Mr Millichamp has been working with a groups of students to ensure they have a firm knowledge of the events in the competition and this will continue for the remainder of the term.

Mr Morris has also been busy with the Year 11 Dowerin Fencing training, even continuing through some very wet weather.

CBH Visit

Yesterday afternoon we welcomed two representatives from CBH who are on a recruiting drive for the upcoming harvest season. It was disappointing to have only 8 students show an interest in this, as this is an amazing opportunity for many of our students.

Last year CBH employed 1300 casual staff over the season and this season they will be requiring approx 1800 staff. Rates start at $29 per hour with some penalty rates for weekends and public holidays. Accommodation may be supplied on site, but further details can be found online at CBH.

Year 12

Over the next few weeks I will be looking at ways to maximise student learning and outcomes for Year 12s. This will include some flexibility on Farm and Trades days rostering to assist students where they may require more time. Students who have any concerns over finishing work should see Mr Cantwell or myself as the initial point of contact. There are many factors involved in allowing students more time to finish work in particular areas, such as class sizes and the program already being delivered to other students.

Excursion Permission

Any student attending the excursion to the "Three Ryans" Farm in Manjimup should ensure their parental permission is completed and returned as soon as possible.
