Year 11 ATAR Plants

Students have been learning about plant health this term and lately have been scouting around the citrus and horticultural area for pests and beneficial bugs. Students then needed to look at some of these tiny critters under microscopes, sketch and identify them as a pest or beneficial.  They had to research their lifecycle and the damage they do to a plant enterprise. Student will then select one pest they have researched and complete an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) assessment task in Week 7.

Year 12 General Plants

Students have been monitoring the crop trial closely and with some young black and white additions to the crop, it proved to be worth a look at how the cattle were grazing the crop. The young dairy cattle will graze the crop trial for a short period of time (a few days) and then the crop will be locked off and fertilised for a hay/silage closer to the end of the year.

Year 10 Science

Students investigated how electrons gain energy when heat is added, allowing them to jump electron shells. This is the basic principle behind fireworks, neon lights and lasers.
