Rubbish Rebel Waste

Rubbish Rebels Champions!

Congratulations to FG and 1E for winning the Rubbish Rebels trophy over the past two weeks. It seems they are the classes to beat - they have been winners more than once this term!

Enviro Stars

Awesome work Max, he collected a huge amount of rubbish at lunch time that had blown in after the storm. Thanks to his hard work we stopped that rubbish potentially blowing into the waterways and out into the ocean!

Miss Dunstan has bought some new buckets and tongs so more people can join the clean up crew at recess and lunch times.

I Sea I Care Ambassador report from the Moonraker Snorkelling expedition.

“It was extremely fun, we got to see Seals, Weedy Sea Dragons, a sting ray, which was there but I didn’t see it. It was fun being on the boat and I think it is the best school excursion I have ever had.” - Aidan

“I didn’t like that it was freezing but it was really fun because we got to swim with seals and we saw a stingray. I didn’t get to see the Weedy Sea Dragon though. We got to wear wetsuits and put on gear.” - Hayley

“It was really fun swimming with the seals. We found different types of animals such as sting rays, seals and Weedy Sea horses. We even got free hot chocolates.” - Cody

“I really liked swimming with the seals and seeing a stingray. Going on the boat ride and free hot chocolate was good. On the way back some people got sea sick and we had to move to the top of the boat” - Seth.

“It was a really great experience that all animal lovers will enjoy. Even though it was cold it was all worth it in the end.” - Chloe

Reusing creatively in Enviro

All students have begun exploring ways to reuse paper. Our Foundation - Grade 2 students are experimenting with paper mache and our Grade 3-6 students are beginning to make paper through pulping paper scraps. For the paper mache we made our own glue from flour and water so we can plant the newspaper cups when we are finished and there won’t be any harm to the environment.

EARTH HOUR - Saturday March 26th, 8:30pm

This Saturday the 26th of March at 8:30pm we are encouraging all families to take part in Earth Hour. Worldwide millions of people will stand together to support stronger action on climate change. By switching off and signing up at https://www.earthhour.org.au/ you are committing to shaping our future. Be creative during the hour with no technology, you may wish to play a board game under candlelight, tell jokes, make shadow puppets with a torch, stargaze or colour in the dark. Take some pictures and post them on social media with the hashtag #ShapeOurFuture and email them to Miss Dunstan- jemma.dunstan@education.vic.gov.au so we can see what creative things you get up to.

Wonder Recycling Rewards!

Our school is collecting bread bags to send off to Wonder Recycling Rewards. The more we collect the more points we earn for our school. Points = sports equipment. Bring your empty bread bags, no matter the brand to the Enviro Room.

We will be collecting from now until the end of August so we have PLENTY of time to earn plenty of points. Please shake out the crumbs before bringing them in. *A tip, if it had bread in it and it’s scrunchy plastic then we will take it. Save your bread bags by filling up one bread bag with all of the other bread bags.
