From the Principal

David Tapp

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we race through the Term it has been wonderful to see the growth all of our students have made with their learning. Whilst there has been disruption over the last few years having our students back and more activities resuming and schooling returning to normal; there is an incredible buzz throughout the school! We had World Maths Day yesterday with lots of our students utilizing numbers in different ways. Last week a number of our students went with Jemma Dunstan and Raelene Harvey to the I See I Care swim with the dolphins program, this exciting opportunity is just the beginning for the SEEC Leaders.

As school life returns to a new normal, I’d like to remind all parents to please complete permission forms for incursions and excursions when sent out on Sentral. If the forms are not submitted by the due date, regrettably we will not be able to provide the opportunity for students to attend, we don’t want our students to miss out.

This week I received a letter from the Australian Association for Environmental Education; Jemma Dunstan has won the award for the Sustainable Schools Educator Award 2021 for Victoria, in recognition for her outstanding contribution by the Australian Sustainable Schools Alliance. Jemma is an enthusiastic and strong campaigner for sustainability throughout our school.

I would like to thank all families for their continued support with RAT testing and keeping everyone COVID safe, we will be receiving an additional 13 Air Purifiers so that all classrooms have them before winter, this will ensure students can stay warm as the weather starts to get colder. We are still working through the engineering for our Shade Sails which will be in the Discovery Garden, we hope to have these installed soon to provide a wonderful learning landscape for our students.

We have had a number of parents and community members mention concerns with parking. If you would like to ring the Shire who are in charge of parking, the reference number for Mornington Peninsula Shire is : 2194491. Somerville Police have also increased their patrols to help support everyone’s safety.

We have opened our enrolments up for 2023 Foundation. If you are intending on sending your child to school in 2023, can you please contact the office for an enrolment pack. We have been and will continue to run tours on Tuesday mornings.

This Term we finish on Friday the 8th of April at 2:30pm, Camp Australia will be running a longer session of after school care if needed.

On the 8th we also have our Easter Bonnet Parade and we are looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Have a wonderful weekend,
