50 Risks to take with your kids: Daisy Turnball

This book is a guide for parents and carers to nurture resilience and independence in kids as they learn to take their own risks. Daisy Turnbull offers an easy-to-use framework with simple, practical challenges for children aged up to 10 years old.

Some of my favourite entries from the book include:

  • Playing with sticks-moving from the playground to less structured play. Use sticks to build a stick house or raft and see if it floats.
  • Come last (or at least second)- Daisy writes that the greatest opportunity for developing skills at any game is by losing. We learn from these experiences, so play games with your children and allow them to lose sometimes.
  • Say thank you- it’s so awesome to receive a thank you note. Writing thank you notes is a skill we need to teach our kids.

Ways to speak to children about the events in Ukraine: trauma informed schools UK

Over the weekend I came across the following information that gave some helpful advice of how to support our children as they navigate the events in Ukraine, but also some of the wording could be readjusted to the current news about the eastern state floods or COVID19.

As always, we are here for you and your family. Please reach out if there is anything we can to support you cbergen@stpaulba.sa.edu.au

Class carer and friendly face

Thank you to the following parent volunteers who have kindly offered to be a Class Carer for the 2022 year. We are blessed to have our Class Carers who are there to help our staff build a vibrant and strong sense of community and are there to provide support and encouragement to our school families.

Welcome Alex Harrison

We welcome Alex Harrison to our teaching team as an Inclusive Education Teacher. Alex shares with our community the following:

I have three children, Evie – 6, Hugo – 4 and Gracie – 1. We love to keep active on the weekends and I enjoy running, swimming and used to enjoy playing and coaching netball. We recently moved back from Sydney after 2 and half years away and I am enjoying being back closer to friends and family. I am passionate about giving back to the community, lifelong learning and enjoying new experiences that enrich my life. I am looking forward to getting to know the St Paul community and sharing my knowledge and passions with everyone.

Please join us as we welcome Alex to our St Paul Lutheran School Community.
