Classroom Contact Update

The requirements for a classroom contact have now been changed. This means that children who are a classroom contact can now participate in after school sports and other extra-curricular activities such as choir. It is still recommended that children who are classroom contacts avoid OSHC if they can during the classroom contact period. A new school infographic is provided in the General News page of Inspire this week.

Please be mindful that if SA Health has been involved in intervention in a class (for example, where PCR tests have been requested for the entire class), then these children still need to avoid after school sport and other extra-curricular activities.

Sports Day Postponed

We have made the decision this week to delay our Sports Day until Term 4 of this year. In current circumstances, we feel that there will be a large number of children who will miss the opportunity to compete if they are unwell or isolating due to being household contacts.

Miss Bartlett will still be working with children in PE lessons to complete the in-class events and these results will be reflected in the results in Term 4. Children who have been away from school during these lessons with Miss Bartlett will still have an opportunity to participate in these events with Miss Bartlett throughout the term.

COVID-19 in St Paul

After a week of remote learning last week, we welcome back all children in 4W and 5L this week!

This week, we have the majority of children in Year 1V and 3F learning from home due to COVID—19 cases. We are finding that many cases are asymptomatic, which means they have COVID-19 but do not have any symptoms to show they are sick. This is why we will at times ask all children in a class to get PCR tested, which is an additional request from SA Health once cases rise in a particular classroom.

Remember also to:

  • Keep unwell children home and have them PCR tested if they have any COVID symptoms, even mild.
  • Encourage your child to wear a mask in Years 3-6. Communicate with your classroom teacher about your preference for mask-wearing, and ask your child how they went with their mask-wearing for the day.
  • Remind your child about the importance of hand hygiene.
