Victorian High Ability Program (VHAP)

In 2021, six students from Year 8 were selected to take part in the Victorian High-Ability Program (VHAP) Term 1, 2022. This program was designed for students who demonstrated high ability in mathematics/English through their NAPLAN results and their performance in these subjects at school.

Hampton Park Secondary College would like to congratulate the following students on their completion of the VHAP program in 2022:

  • Serena Chu (English)
  • Emmanuel Lacomel (English)
  • Ryan Neang (Maths)
  • Denise Gibbs (Maths)
  • Michael Krasovs (Maths)
  • Vivian Ngo (Maths)

Each week, these students collaborated with like-minded peers from neighbouring Victorian government schools through virtual lessons taught by expert Virtual School Victoria educators, Sam Ellis (English) and Greg Bourne (Maths).

During the sessions they were pushed out of their comfort zone and challenged to complete tasks aimed at stimulating their critical thinking, problem solving and creativity – thereby enriching their understanding of English and/or mathematics. Early feedback related to the program has been overwhelmingly positive, and the participating students are confident that they will be able to transfer the skills they acquired from the program to their regular classes.

We are also excited to announce that 20 Year 7 students have been enrolled in the VHAP program in Term 2, 2022. This is the largest group selected yet, and we can’t wait to see the amazing work produced by the following students:
