Meet the School Captains

Meet Lochie, one of your new School Captains!

Hey guys! 👋

I’m Lochie, and I’m one of the 4 school captains for 2022!

I was literally jumping out of my chair when I found out I was chosen to work with the three other amazing people selected for this role this year. They’re a cool bunch and I am feeling honoured to be a part of the crew. However, It’s not all milkshakes and photo shoots, we also have to prove we can be media savvy and face a Q&A session at a moment’s notice. So here we are doing this pop quiz about CHPS! I had to think quickly and give my most honest answer which gives you all an insight into what makes me tick. Enjoy!

How long have you been at CHPS? - I have been a student at Clifton Hill Primary School for 6 years (since Prep!). I know pretty much all the ins and outs of the school and have relished this time to build some amazing relationships with both the teachers and the students…. And don’t forget the Admin staff, who’ve seen my face too many times at the office! (And Lee-Lee who knows I love nothing better than to order her famous homemade Pizza!)

What is your favourite thing about CHPS? - The kids! I love working with my peers at Clifton Hill and doing all sorts of fun activities and learning with them. They are always happy, inclusive and always up for a laugh. Oh, and I especially want to give a BIG SHOUTOUT to Roz for always asking for my help, especially with Assembly Setups. My favourite thing to do is to play with AV equipment and hold a mic. If you ever need a MC, I’m your man!

How do you want to be remembered for when you leave? - I want to be remembered as the school captain who listened to their peers, literally lived by the school values and was always kind and empathetic to all students and staff. I also want to make a difference in our school. Due to COVID, the previous school captains had limited opportunity to create change, but this is a new year. I want to make a difference in our school so it becomes even better than it already is, leaving my LA stamp on the school community to be remembered always.

What is your favourite subject and why? - Now this is a hard one! Out of the school subjects, I love Reading, Writing and- to many people’s surprise- Spelling! For the specialist subjects, I really enjoy Music with Roz, and it would be tres tragique to leave French off the list! Madame Robson est la meilleure prof de français! 🥖

Where do you see this school going in the next 10 years? - We will probably need another campus since we are growing so quickly! I think maybe the Organ Factory will be redeveloped to create bigger spaces for our science department and computer technology classes to build on the future development of children’s ICT skills. Maybe I will pop back in 10 years to see how it’s all going and have a play with all the new facilities.

What are your hobbies outside school? - I actually have my own podcast, Tedblast!, which has been released on all podcast streaming platforms! (Don’t be shy- follow me!!) I also love to create DJ music and run my own record label (MadMonkey Records), which allows anyone to submit their music and get it submitted to all streaming platforms for free! And when I have some spare time I love bike riding, swimming and chilling by the pool with a milkshake!

What makes Clifton Hill Primary school such a great school? - How hard-working the staff are. They come to work with a smile on their faces every single day and are always happy to help and cheer me on. (And I did already mention Lee-Lee’s great pizza, right?)

It’s an amazing space to learn and grow and I am going to miss it and everyone in it when we leave. Luckily Poppy my sister is still here so I will still be connected and be back to check up on how things are going. You won’t get rid of me that easily!

If you have any questions, ideas, or just want to chat, you can email me at ant0001@cliftonhillps.vic.edu.au, or you can come and wait outside 6BN at snack or lunch. I’m always up for a conversation! See you ‘round the school!
