Out and About

Beatrice Jeavons (Class of 2011)

Congratulations to St Philip's Old Saint (Class of 2011) Beatrice Jeavons who is flat out working as a Sustainability Consultant/Producer. Bea is currently working with the Adelaide Festival, bringing attention to the impact of the arts on the environment and hunting for solutions and helping other artists minimise their

Over the past decade Bea has worked with festivals, events, tours and gigs as well as in outdoor education and conservation. She also does Outdoor Ed as a side hustle working as a guide on multi-day hikes and instructing on school camps (rock climbing, kayaking, bushwalking etc).

Bea worked with the Off-Grid Living Festival, Conservations Council and SA Environment Awards and more recently has worked with Australian comedian, actor, writer and musician Tim Minchin and the BACK crew. As a way of minimising their tour's footprint and environmental impact, Tim and his band and crew took part in a tree and shrub planting day down at Lot 50-Kanyanyapilla. L50K is a bi-cultural ecological and cultural regeneration project near McLaren Vale initiated by artist and cultural geographer Gavin Malone.

Currently Bea is busy producing Climate Crisis and the Arts, which is a free, one-day event on Friday, 11 March, in the Pioneer Women's Memorial Gardens in South Australia. It will have two stages featuring a mix of panel discussions, live performance and creative content streamed in from the UK. All the while Bea is also juggling the role of Sustainability Coordinator at the Adelaide Festival and working with Green Music Australian artists on upcoming 2022 tours. Plus squeezing in a few hikes where and when she can.

Bea Jeavons is kicking goals and we're proud she remembers her time at St Philip's fondly. All the best Bea and congratulations.
