Enduro Night

Huge effort from all involved at the St Philip's College, sponsored 3/6-hour event on Saturday night. Off the back of the recent Australian National Championships Tom Stockwell (The Flying Merida Man) took out the 3-hour event with 10 laps and nearly 70km of riding through the darkness closely followed by Clive Hickey on 9 laps and Laurie Berryman with 8 laps.

In the 3-hour Team we saw the 'Wheel Deal' with staff members Stacey Gill, Amy Stenniken and current parent Veronica Gailey taking the victory, followed by The Four Warriors and Sendit Harder taking out the win for the Pairs.

The 6-hour was won by first timer to longer distance racing Ben Quilliam followed by Year 12 student, Zane Espie. Pairs 6-hour went to mum and son team of Liam and Anthea Henderson followed by the Not All Nuts Team of ex-student Ethan Henderson and Ash Morris with Mark Espie and Mark O'Cass rounding out 3rd. 6-hour teams saw Team Lightning Strikes of Bradley Geraghty with Tyko Lewis, Billy Hughes and Chloe Erlich followed by a largely parent Team of Midlife Crashers 1 and Midlife Crashers 2.

Many other students, parents and staff were involved throughout the night with an unfortunate broken hand for Connor Hester resulting in a few weeks off the bike and a couple of other scrapes and scratches. Well done to all the riders who seemed to be secretly a little relieved that the 12 hour was removed; whilst many teams of four split ways and made two pairs to ensure they still got enough riding in.

Amazing effort by staff member James Tudor from Forktail Films who has managed to capture the feel of the event and was there for the whole night too. Thanks to Emma Shearer in food organisation, equipment assistance and medical coverage for the night. $500 in cash vouchers was given out on the night and Ultimate Ride Bicycle Centre - Alice Springs came through with just over $500 worth of product.

Over half the riders went away with a prize which is always part of the fun. U19s are free for most events for the year so sign them up early. There are 50% discounts for registrations on most events the week before and we really would like you to try and register the night before the event at the latest.

Pack up was still happening at 3am on Sunday morning with thanks to Karan Bhuta for a late arrival and assistance till the end.
