ARTS MATTERS

TOP DESIGNS

Congratulations to Roderick Hill, one of our Year 12 Visual Communication Design students from last year, who was chosen to have his work included in this year’s very prestigious Top Design exhibition at Melbourne Museum, as part of the VCE Season of Excellence.

Top Designs showcases student works produced for their VCE in Arts fields such as Media, Theatre Studies, Food and Technology and Visual Communication Design. All works are accompanied by folios and design plans that document the students’ development of ideas, production stages, client feedback and evaluation of results. Out of the 1200 applications to have work included in this exhibition, only 79 works were selected. So this really is an incredible achievement for Roderick.

You can see Roderick’s work at the Top Design exhibition at the Melbourne Museum in Carlton from now until 15 July. Congratulations to Roderick and his teacher, Ms Roden.

Congratulations to Adam El Horri (Year 11), who filmed and edited this outstanding film clip from our Arts show last year, showing the amazing artworks that were on display.

Each November we hold an Arts Show where we celebrate the achievements of our amazing art students. All visitors to the Arts Show Opening night were asked to vote for their favourite artwork in both the Junior and the Senior schools and the student who received the most votes wins the People’s Choice Award, which includes a cheque and a certificate.

Congratulations to all these students who received votes.

Congratulations to Ella Li who won the People’s Choice Award for the Junior school. She worked really hard not only in Year 9 3D Art, but also in Ceramics, in Art, in Visual Communication and even the badge that she made in BYTES last year was outstanding and of a sophisticated design! She truly is a most deserving recipient.

PAINT A PIANO

Congratulations to Neda Lay (Year 9), Tamanna Sharma (Year 10) and Arianne Lindsay (Year 9) who were involved in a community event that was run in collaboration with the Glen Eira Council. The event was called "Come play me" an initiative whereby a piano is brought back to life and placed in a public spot where the general public is encouraged to come to play the piano and to entice passersby to stop and listen.

This focus was on culture and food. The piano was painted by the students and a street artist with that theme in mind.
